Old user now re-hooked, needs more help

Dear List,

It's mostly your fault, for encouraging me to return to XyWrite after so
many years of slogging through Bill Gates's rotting vineyards. To those of
you who offered to help me convert 5.25" disks to 3.5", thanks especially;
also those who walked me through the installation procedure. My wife and I
(she's a registered user, too) burrowed through our offices last weekend and
actually found a clean & shiny set of 3.5s for Xy4. (Please don't get me
involved in the Xy4 versus Xy3.x dispute just yet. I actually liked Xy4 when
I first used it, perhaps because I had been one of the three people in the
world who had bought and gotten accustomed to Signature, which 4 seems very
much to be.)

At any rate, I wrote and edited a 2,000-worder today on XyWrite and it went
like lightning. I remembered many of the reasons I had stuck with the
program so long, although there were a lot of key commands I did NOT
remember. Came time to print it, and I was in trouble.

I use a Canon BJC7004, which is very good for photo reproduction, but
XyWrite, of course, never heard of it. None of the printer files that came
with the installation disks would touch the printer, and TTG's Web site is
as one might expect. I've got an e-mail pending at Canon asking if they have
a driver, but that's a very long shot.

Anybody have any ideas? I can get Epson LQ emulation from Canon, and I can
get some Epson LQ printer drivers from TTG. Does anyone have any better plan
than trying to match the two up?

For real nostalgia, I also discovered Orbis and Ibid for XyWrite in my
office search. The former comes with a built-in upgrade to Xy 4.013. I seem
to remember that none of this worked at the time or for any time afterward.

Thanks again.
