-> Problem I: how to extract footnotes or endnotes from a chapter,
-> so they can be saved and printed in a separate file,

Nick:

The XyWWWeb Jumbo U2 includes two routines that may help. One, called
MOVEFN, *moves* footnotes to a separate file (i.e., removes them from
the source file to a separate window). Changes to the source file
aren't SAved, so you can just ABort and re-CAll to restore the
original source. Or, you can use DUMPEM, which simply *copies* the
footnotes to a separate window without changing the source file.
DUMPEM is a generic routine that will operate on any embedded command,
not just footnotes. For instance, DUMPEM LB extracts and
lists the contents of all LaBel statements.
