I would second Tim Baehr's suggestion.

Windows shorcut to a DOS program like XyWrite, Windows (95 at least) creates a PIF file in which you can specify "close on exit." If you set it to launch through the .pif file versus editor.exe, and set
the properties of the shortcut to close on exit, it'll close the window. I
use Win98SE too.
