Signature is emphatically NOT XyWrite 4 for DOS! Though the feature
sets are quite similar, there's a world of difference under the
hood. Signature suffered from serious performance problems (lots of
disk-crunching, everything took forever). These were addressed,
after XyQuest was acquired by TTG, in a top-to-bottom overhaul
leading to the initial release (v4.011) of Xy4. In terms of speed,
Sig and Xy4 are night and day; there's no comparison. Moreover, the
improvements and bug fixes in subsequent releases have been numerous
and significant. The current release (v4.017) is well worth the
price ($29.95, I think) of an upgrade from any previous version.
