Notabene: SV to ext drive with long file names

Here's a XY program Carl wrote that saves a file
to my external hard drive (I have it assigned to
a key). It works in NB as well, but there, it
turns long file names into short file names with
a tilde. How can I modify this to save NotaBene's long file names? Thanks.
