[Off Topic] Windows Genuine Advantage

I tried the program recommended on the Windows Secrets newsletter,
NetChk Protect by Shavlik. It: takes a long time to load, slowed down
my browser, did not install all the patches it identified (I had to
do three one-by-one) required editing of a parameters file the
instructions for which made no sense, and after uninstalling it,
would have taken some time to scrub from the registry had I not used
ERUNT (Now THERE'S a program) first. The newsletter overstated its
ease of use, understated its learning curve, and did not mention the
necessary editing of some of script files. So I simply set MS Auto
updates to "notify me" and used custom install to get the security
and update patches. Guess I'll have to do without the Karaoke player.
