Thanks. I thought that was the case but even when I put the directory
containing XY4 in the path I got the same error. Only moving it to
C:\Windows seemed to solve the problem.

PS. I came upon this after testing out the solution Edward mentioned for
running 16 bit programs in 64 bit Windows. It seems to work very well.
With this I can now run the old OED with Robert's word lookup routine again.

PS. I have just found a way to avoid the error message, by
placing a copy of GoXY.exe into the C:\Windows folder. I have a
suspicion it should have been there already.
Glad you were able to solve it, Paul. Yes, GoXy.exe must be located in
a folder that is in the Path.
