intentional delays in XyWrite

I dimly recall that there are some intentional delays in XyWrite's 
response, for example a pause after an error message. I am finding 
that any delay at all annoys me (perhaps because with increasing age 
I am more likely to press the wrong key), and I wonder if someone 
could point me to the commands that allow these behaviors to be
