David Thomas' reply to my inquiry about TameDos and vDos-lfn. Note that
even 4.41 probably won't work on a 64-bit system. I must have tested it on
my 32-bit version of Win 7.

The old version 3.34 can work with non-windows environments, but has
limited capability. Italics and the Tame console were introduced with
version 5. I am surprised version 4.41 loads successfully - it requires
the NTVDM.

Subject: Tame 4.41 vs. Tame 6.0c and vDos
Hi again, David.
XyWrite can now be run on 64-bit machines by using a vDos box. I can load
4.41 but apparently not 6.0c (something about vDos not being an NT
flavored program? not sure). But when 4.41 runs, I can't get any
context-menu or Tame console. Are these available in 4.41? Did 4.41 have
the ability to show XyWrite's MODEs as italics, bold, etc. the way later
versions can? I can do this on regular XyWrite and 6.0c:
Emacs!
In my vDos Xywrite, as I have it configured, that file looks like this:
Emacs!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Harry
