Mozilla's Thunderbird is pretty much a continuation
of the Netscape effort and saves to local drive. And,
of course, it works well with Firefox.

I'm about to set up a new laptop, and am looking for an alternative to
Netscape.

However, Netscape has a feature that I've come to depend on: it copies
every single email to a file on the hard drive.

Can anyone recommend another email handler that does this?
