SmartSet/CALLUP

Jim, a couple of hints:

1. With SMARTSET.U2 loaded, execute VA/NV $U2 on the command
line. It should return "[D:\PATH\]SMARTSET.U2". If it doesn't,
you've somehow erred in loading the file.

2. When you say "assigned a key", do you mean that you assigned the
CALLUP frame to a key with "nn=NO,JM,(,2,.,c,a,l,l,u,p,)" in the
appropriate TABLE(s) in your .KBD file? If so, try hitting the
assigned key against any filename in a directory listing. That
should open the file. Then try hitting the key against a
*directory* name in a directory listing. That should execute a
ChDir command to that directory. If you don't get these results,
double-check your .KBD file assignment.

3. An alternate way of using CALLUP is to execute it directly
from the command line, via a "Helpkey". See SMARTSET.NTS for
instructions on assigning a Helpkey. In general, this is the
preferred way of executing SmartSet routines. CALLUP, however,
is one of the few that work better with a dedicated key.

4. Finally, once you're up and running ... I noticed that the
documentation for CALLUP didn't get updated to reflect recent
changes in the code. Disregard the stuff about key #104. The
way it works is this: If you assign CALLUP to any *shifted* key
(SHIFT, ALT, CTRL, etc.), then, when you execute it against a
directory name, it changes to that directory and lists *only
directories* below that directory. If, however, you assign
CALLUP to an unshifted key, when it changes to a directory, it
also lists the *files* within that directory. To have both
options, you need to assign CALLUP to both a shifted and an
unshifted key.

I hope this helps. If you continue to have problems, send me a
private message so we don't bore people to tears.
