TCP/IP is the basic program for directly connecting to the Internet, which is a
big selling point of OS2. It is also a big merchandising handle for IBM, since
it gives you a personal account on the Internet service that IBM runs and you
pay for. If you are already connected to the Internet without using TCP/IP, it
is of no use to you.

I would suggest that (1) you back up your config and autoexec files and explore
both of them for lines that pertain to this program, (2) disable those lines
with REM, and (3) that you remove the TCP/IP directory from your path (or even
move it onto a floppy).

If that doesn't do it, I would try backing up to different file names and
disabling other possibly fractious applications until your problem is solved.
If you keep track of each step, it shouldn't be hard to restore the lines that
do no harm.
