Re: Keyboard lead

Paul,

When you get desperate, I have three suggestions.

1. There are companies that construct customized cables. There was a place in Manhattan in the mid-40s between 5th and 6th called either Manhattan Cable or Manhattan Electronics.

2. Use the resources of the web. Ebay? Buy a whole new kbd of your vintage.

3. There's no magic to these cables--solder it back together. Get a soldering iron (a small one) from Radio Shack. And a "continuity tester" from same. The more klutzy one is the longer it takes to do it right, but it can be done right in the privacy of your own home! BTW--they tell you that you can't use (electrical) solder to make a mechanical connection. You sure can, it's just a rather weak one.
