you might want to check if there is any other program (e.g. some
Autohotkey script) is interfering in any way..

Bingo! I killed AHK and the problem disappears. I looked at my AHK script
(over 1500 lines, so I forget what's in it) and "MButton" is configured to
move a window to the center monitor, and maximize it. I will exclude
vDos-lfn from that hotkey's scope.
