XX-encoding Utility

I want to report that XXBUG is now available for direct
downloading from this list. Just send a message to
LSTSRV@xxxxxxxx containing nothing but the line get
xywrite xxbug.scr and it will be yours.

XX-encoding turns any binary file into a slightly larger ASCII
file, containing nothing but letters, numbers, and a few
punctuation marks. It can then be sent across multiple platforms (e.g., on the
Internet) without degrading the binary file. It is thus useful
for sending material that otherwise could not go over the
Internet, including programs, foreign-language files, etc. It
works on single files, but you can package a group of files (and
make them more compact) by zipping them first.

XXBUG 2.21 is a remarkable freeware XX-encoding utility by Chad
Wagner, contributed by Tim Baehr. Unlike UUXFER and others, it
does not require a special utility to decode the files it
produces, but uses DOS's DEBUG instead. XXBUG.SCR is an example.
Keep in mind that once you have decoded it, it will still have to
be unzipped (it was zipped with PKZIP 2.04g) to give you the
package of binary and text files.

To use it, the syntax is XXBUG It will create a file
named .SCR in the same directory. You can launch it on
the Internet as an ASCII file.

To decode, move the script into the directory where you want the
output deposited. Delete everything up to AND INCLUDING the "CUT
HERE" line at the top, and everything including and after the
"CUT HERE" line at the end. Then do
