Bill, one message to avoid veering off topic. You can search (using the 
quotation marks) "WordPerfect for DOS" and get some useful answers from 
the first search hit (though I can't vouch for the site). And your 
friend can get further aid through the help forum at WordPerfect 
Universe (which you can find with a web search for those two words).
