Re: Some U2 questions

Dear Kari

Yes, it depends what you want.
I generate all my text files in Xy4 and then move them to Windows for compiling, importing into Word and sending off to publishers etc. I have never found a windows program that suits me for writing. That is why I have created my system.

Best wishes

Paul

Paul,

One of the main principles of the Service Pack project was to avoid
hacking. All EXEs are as is, and only user-editable files have been
modified.

While it is possible to create a code page that would work in both
worlds, e.g. by adding guillemets in their XyWrite positions in CP 1252
(like we did in the Russian/English CP866X), there are so many good
options for editing Windows text files that this is hardly necessary.
EditPad and Notepad++ can handle Windows and legacy CPs, and can be used
to convert automatically from one to the other.

As an addendum to other discussions, I also have a version of XY4 with
edited files that will run code page 1252. This is equivalent to the
Ansified XY4 developed by Robert some years ago, but running in VDOS
plus with the code page set to 1252. With this, all files generated
in XY4 can immediately be read by windows programs without any
translation.
