RE: Can't open Xy in XP -- A thousand THANK YOUS!!!

I didn't even now there was a \windows\repair folder!!
Me either. I just went in and changed all those files to Read Only. Then it
occurred to me that maybe I shouldn't have done that: maybe the OS needs to
update them from time to time.

I checked the dates on the files, and the most recent was 3/1/05. Checking
my Visa records, I seem to have bought the computer on 2/25/05 (and maybe I
didn't set it up right away).

Does anyone know whether I should leave these copies of system files
(autoexec.nt, etc.) Read/Write?
